Deering Church UCC
Our Mission:

Compassionate, open to all, where Christ's teachings lead to spiritual growth and action.

Welcome from Pastor Barbara
I want to extend a warm welcome to anyone reading this message.
Deering Community Church, United Church of Christ, welcomes everyone to our worship and our family.  We welcome people of all ages, races, cultures and sexual orientations.  We welcome those who are single, married, divorced, widowed, and separated.  We welcome those who have no church home as well as visitors from other churches.  We welcome believers and skeptics as well as questioning believers.  We love to have children and teenagers in our midst.
Maybe you have visited us in the past, come on a regular basis, or have just heard about us for the first time.
Please come and worship with us as often as you can.
We very much want our worship to provide an uplift to all who attend, and an experience that will contribute to your finding closeness to God and meaning in your life.  I welcome hearing from you by phone or in person.  God be with you and strengthen you for the journey.

Deering Community Church is Open and Affirming,      All Are Welcome

What does ONA mean? In our denomination, United Church of Christ, ONA came about to give a special invitation to those who are GLBT: gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender to become part of our congregations. Due to so much prejudice and discrimination in Christian Churches, we wanted to affirm that we very much want you among us. We were the first denomination to ordain an openly gay man, William Johnson in 1972. We really want to be, with God’s grace, a congregation that includes all persons, embracing differences of sexual orientation, gender, marital status, age, mental and physical ability, as well as racial, ethnic or social-economic background.

Deering Church Capital Campaign Fund
The Deering Community Church (UCC) has initiated a capital campaign to resolve structural and maintenance problems that stand in the way of fulfilling our role as a community church. Since 1789, the church has served the needs of our local community and beyond.
The current church building was built in 1829 and as is true of historic buildings, the need for maintenance, repair, and renovation is an ongoing challenge.
